Age Groups

Three stages, one continuous journey

From ages 5 through 19, students move through three age groups designed to match their developmental stage, deepening their understanding of the faith along the way.

Ages 5–7

Foundations

Foundations welcomes our youngest students with a warm, gentle introduction to the Orthodox faith. Children learn through storytelling, music, movement, and hands-on activities designed for early learners, building comfort with the church, its prayers, and the beginning sounds and letters of Amharic.

Format

Weekly 60-minute sessions in small, closely supervised groups.

Ages 8–12

Discipleship

Discipleship builds on early foundations with structured lessons in reading and writing Amharic, an introduction to Ge'ez, and a more thorough study of the Bible and church history. Students begin to take on greater responsibility in prayer and worship, and explore the lives of saints as models of Christian character.

Weekly 90-minute sessions with age-grouped classes and periodic group projects.

Ages 12–19

Youth Fellowship

Youth Fellowship engages teenagers and young adults in substantive discussion of Orthodox Tewahedo theology, church history, and Christian ethics. Sessions encourage critical thinking, open discussion, and mentorship, preparing young people to carry their faith with confidence into adulthood while strengthening fluency in Amharic and familiarity with Ge'ez liturgical texts.
